Would you love to send custom hand-crafted greeting cards? Come to a class to make your own, purchase Stampin’ Up! supplies to create at home, or let me create cards for you!
Last Friday, one of my daughter’s friends, a stamper herself, stopped by. Of course, I just had to take her downstairs to see “The Padded Room.” She got pretty excited about some of my cards! This Valentine Owl Card elicited an “Oh, I loooooove this card! Do you sell these?” Of course, I sell them!! Did you know that you can buy any card you see on display in my stamp room?
As my daughter’s friend headed back upstairs, she spotted the card below, which features Nature Walk Stamp Set and Baja Breeze Card Stock and Classic Ink, both of which will be retired on May 31. “Can you make the owl card with these colors for Mother’s Day?” she asked. “Of course, I can!” I responded.
So, I did. Here’s the custom card I designed for my new customer! It features Baja Breeze Card Stock, which is retiring at the end of the month, as well as the Soft Suede that she liked in the card above, and the heart and owls she liked from the Valentine’s Day card. What do you think? Leave a comment below to let me know!

I know I’ve told you this before, but it bears repeating — I LOVE STAMPIN’ UP!’S NIGHT OF NAVY! I am sad that it’s RETIRING on May 30, 2013!!
You should know that I also love butterflies! I have a huge butterfly garden in my front yard and am continuously putting in more native plants to draw in even more of these magnificent creatures. Last week, when I was at the cabin in the woods with my big ole crazy family, I was mesmerized by the Eastern Tiger Swallowtails (the Virginia state butterfly) covering the fresh azalea blossoms! And the fields were aflutter with myriad butterflies — some I don’t even know the name of. Guess I’d better pull out my butterfly I.D. book, huh?
Before Night of Navy is gone — and while you can still get it — I want to share three pretty butterfly cards, all of which are created with Night of Navy Card Stock and Night of Navy Classic Ink (markers and stamp pads). Besides the Night of Navy, some other retiring items were used on these cards (I’ve marked them with an * for you.)! Consider this fair warning, if you want anything that’s retiring, GET IT NOW!
The first butterfly card, at the top of this post is created with the Swallowtail Stamp. Don’t you love this stamp? Here’s what I used to make the card:
Card 1: Swallowtail
Stamps: Swallowtail, Loving Thoughts*
Ink: Night of Navy*, Wild Wasabi
CS: Night of Navy*, Confetti White
Accessories: Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Stampin’ Distress Tool, Pearl Basic Jewels, SNAIL

Today I’m at the Stampin’ Up! Regional Event in Baltimore, Maryland. One of the fun things we do at all Stampin’ Up! events is swap! We design and create card fronts to exchange with other demonstrators. Not only does it give us great class ideas for you, but cards to display for you! I made 50 swaps, so look for 50 new ideas in “The Padded Room.”
Thought you might like to see the card I’m swapping. It features one of my favorite colors — Not Quite Navy — which is going away with the new catalog BUT IT’S NOT QUITE GONE! So, let’s use it while we can, and get it while we can!

Supplies: Very Vanilla & Not Quite Navy Card Stock, Parker’s Patterns DSP, Not Quite Navy Classic Ink, Just Thinking stamp pad, Windows Frame Collection Framelits Dies, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot, 1/8″ Mini Brads, Paper Trimmer, Bone Folder, SNAIL
Stampin’ Up! has announced a Color Refresh, and wonderful Wisteria Wonder is here to stay! Wisteria Wonder is one of the five Stampin’ Up! In Colors for 2011-2013. With the arrival of the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog in June, Wisteria Wonder will be part of the Subtles Collection, a wonderful, soft, subtle purple shade! It’s not going away; it’s here to stay! YAY!
Wondering about the new colors?
The one new color is called Smoky Slate. The nine returning In Colors as core colors are Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Soft Sky, and Wisteria Wonder. Check out these colors displayed in their new collections!

I thought you might enjoy this pretty Wisteria Wonder card I created this week for our St. Thomas More “Hands to Hearts” Card Ministry. Of course, the feature here is the wonderful Wisteria Wonder — Card Stock (122922) and Classic Ink (126985). You might like to know some of the other products I used:

This weekend is the time to order everything on your wish list, or to pick up the SNAIL or Stampin’ Dimensionals or Glue Dots you need!
I’m in New Cumberland, PA — just a hop, skip and jump from Harrisburg, PA! My team member, Annette, and I drove here yesterday, got a good night’s sleep and woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to craft! For those of you who know me, and my late night shenanigans, grab a seat — I actually went to sleep at 10:30 last night, slept the whole night through (insert Whitney Houston music here), and got up when the alarm went off at 6:45.
I’m here for the RemARKable Retreat — three full days of crafting fun!! The weekend kicked off this morning at 7:30 and ends at 5:00 on Sunday afternoon! I’m spending the whole weekend in this spot (above) creating away just for you!
Lots of fun classes are on the April Stamp for Sanity Calendar! The first one of the month is scheduled for Friday, April 11 — FABRIC FUN! And, I gave you a choice of times — 10 am- noon for you morning folks and 7-9 pm for you evening gals! Take your choice! We’ll be making 5 very fun projects at class, including a fun flower pin to wear on a jacket, attach to a bag or add to a hat! The deadline to register/pay is Monday, April 8, so get on the stick ya’ll!
Did you know that today, April 2, is Children’s Book Day? May I just say, I love children’s books! I have saved way too many, but I also regret giving away too many! I’m sure you won’t believe this, but I’ve still got my favorite book from when I was a little child, The Little Black Puppy.
Pulling this book out to take a picture of it got me to thinking vintage. So, I created a vintage-appeal card for you today. The Lean on Me stamp designs remind me of the reading books from my childhood (you know, the “See Dick run.” ones?) and I always think newsprint when I think vintage soooooooooo this is what I came up with:
This same card layout would work great with a wide variety of stamp sets. Just change up the focal image and you’ve got a whole new card! Even using the four stamps in the Lean on Me set would give you lots of variety.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this card yourself:
SUPPLIES:
STAMPS: Lean on Me (w-122283; c-122285)
INK: StazOn Black (101406), Riding Hood Red Stampin’ Write Marker (Regals, set of 10, 119701); Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker (Regals, set of 10, 119701 or individually, 100069); So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker (Subtles, set of 10, 119700), Blush Blossom Stampin’ Write Marker (100037), Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad (126975)
CARDSTOCK: Basic Black (121045), Very Vanilla (101650), First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper (121878) — FYI: I used a retired Stampin’ Up! newsprint.
ACCESSORIES: Stampin’ Trimmer (126889), SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Denim Jean Ribbon (125053), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Bone Folder (102300), Aqua Painter (103954), Stampin” Distress Tool (127562), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Ovals Collection Framelits Dies (129381)
Just for kicks and giggles and maybe a few happy memories, I thought I’d share a few books that were favorites of my kids’ when they were little people.

Happy Easter! I hope you enjoyed a blessed celebration of the Triduum! Keep celebrating…we have 50 days to celebrate…until Pentecost on June 12! So keep those eggs and bunnies and crosses just where they are to remind you every single day of Christ’s sacrifice for us!
Mr. StampforSanity had a very nasty respiratory virus last week and over the weekend. I felt so badly for him! All he felt like doing was sleeping. Every time he got up and tried to do anything, he collapsed back into bed. We were all blessed that he felt well enough yesterday, Easter Sunday, to go to Mass and out to dinner with us!
Check out the Get Well Card I made for my main man!
Although I designed this card for a man, I think it would be perfectly appropriate for anyone! The colors are what make it manly. Change up the colors and you’ll have a completely different card. Add a frou-frou ribbon and you’ve got girly! If you’d like to make this card yourself, here’s what you’ll need:
SUPPLIES:
STAMPS: Sunflower (w-123606, c-123608), Nature Walk (w-121925, c-121997), Sassy Salutations (w-126705, c-126707)
INK: StazOn Black (101406), VersaMark (102283), River Rock Stampin’ Write Marker (1 of 8 piece set, Neutrals, 119703
CARDSTOCK: Basic Black (121045), River Rock (108640), Whisper White (100730)
ACCESSORIES: SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Bone Folder (102300), Paper Snips (103379), 1-3/4″ Circle Punch (119850), 1-3/8″ Circle Punch (119860), Linen Thread (104199), Embossing Buddy (103083), Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109133), Heat Tool (129053)
Our family dyes Easter eggs on Holy Saturday, AFTER the Easter Vigil Mass! In case you don’t know, that’s late! Easter Vigil Mass starts at 8 and lasts for at least 2 hours! (It’s a VERY SPECIAL once-a-year celebration of Christ’s resurrection!) That means we’re usually dying eggs sometime after 10 pm. Why? Because that’s when an over-committing procrastinator like me always got to it when the kids were young. After all, it had to be done BEFORE the Easter Bunny came! Now, even though the kids are 25 and 22, only one kid is here for the holy days, and I don’t procrastinate nearly as badly as I used to, it’s a tradition.
If, like me, you don’t — or didn’t — get to dying eggs until today, here are some Easter egg-dying ideas for you. But, before you try any of them, hard-boil your eggs! I forgot to do that one year! And make sure your eggs are completely dry before you start designing. While your eggs are cooking and drying, pull out your Stampin’ Up! supplies and get the creative juices flowing!
The eggs turn out beautifully! The colors don’t bleed through the egg shells. I’m told that they’re safe to eat..while the inks are not labelled food-safe, they are definitely labelled non-toxic. Others have told me they suffered no dire consequences from eating them!
Here’s how to do it:
Before dying your Easter eggs with the Reinkers, use your choice of Stampin’ Up! rubber stamps and VersaMark to stamp images on the eggs. Then, dye them. The images you stamped in VersaMark will show up white! This is the same technique we did with crayons when we were kids! Remember? The wax in the crayon resisted the color. VersaMark gives the same effect but you’ll have nice crisp images.
You can leave the eggs white and use Classic Ink to stamp in your choice of colors, or color your eggs a light color and then stamp in a darker shade. Either way the eggs will be beautiful!
Just give them the Stampin’ Write Markers and let their imaginations run wild and free! Remind them that they’ve got a fat tip and a skinny tip — they’ll have fun figuring out how to use both!

Look for my eggs, made with Stampin’ Up! fabric, on Monday.
Remember…we won’t decorate eggs until late tonight!
Grab up some of those brown paper eggs at the craft store…they’ve probably already been put on sale. (But, don’t buy anything else there! Come to me for all of your other crafting needs! Pretty please!) Tear your favorite Stampin’ Up! Designer Fabric combo into 1″ strips or use scraps, if you have them. Coat the egg with the decoupage glue. Wrap the egg with the torn strips of fabric. Add a coat of decoupage glue over the fabric. To make these eggs insanely cute, add a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds while the decoupage glue is still wet. Allow to dry. As my daughter likes to say, “Prettiful!”
Happy Easter, Everybody!

When I spotted this pennant banner on the display board at Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership Conference in January, it took my breath away! Really! It’s so pretty, I gasped! I’ve been planning on making it myself for over two months but just haven’t gotten to it yet. Sometimes procrastination pays off!
Since all of our fabrics are 50% off this week, I’m going to order this Tea for Two Designer Fabric (#129308).
When you order the Tea for Two Designer Fabric, you’ll get three coordinated extra-wide fat quarters — each 18″ x 27″. Our fabrics are all 100% cotton.
The Tea for Two Designer Fabric patterns feature: Baja Breeze, Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Very Vanilla.

I’m ordering my fabric today! How about you?
Check out this fun no-sew ruffled bag, courtesy of my teammate, Jan! I received this adorable, embellished canvas tote as a gift from her in January at our Leadership Conference in Orlando! Can you believe this is a no sew project? Don’t you wish you had one, too?
Well, wishes do come true! We’ll be making one of these bags, using your own Stampin’ Up! fabric, at April’s FABRIC FUN CLASS! But, this isn’t all we’ll be making! I’ve got four other projects planned for you, too! Be sure to order your fabric AND sign up for the class!

Plus, this week, I’ll be sharing some fun ways to use these unique fabrics right here on my blog. So, stay tuned! (Sign up to GET BLOG UPDATES in your email inbox. )
